Bass amplifier with analog preamp, Microtubes distortion and 500 Watt Class D power amplifier
The extremely compact Darkglass Microtubes 500 is the perfect bass amplifier for all woofers that require a versatile and powerful sound tool for the stage and recording studio. The bass amp, packed in a stylish brushed aluminum cabinet, offers a particularly versatile analog preamplifier, whose clean section is supplemented with an active 4-band equalizer by the switchable Microtubes engine with B3K or VMT voicing. The Class D power amplifier also delivers 500 watts of power with a total weight of just 1.7 kg.
The Clean section of the Darkglass Microtubes 500 offers an active 4-band EQ with semi-parametric mids, while the Microtubes engine offers the voicings of B3K and VMT.
Clean section with active 4-band equalizer
The heart of the Darkglass Microtubes 500 Head is the particularly variable preamp, which is built in completely analog solid state technology and connects the clean section with an upstream Microtubes engine. The Clean channel impresses with a particularly transparent reproduction that does not distort the character of the electric bass used. The active 4-band tone control allows a particularly precise adjustment of the sound thanks to the two-way switchable mid-bands.
Microtubes Engine
The Microtubes Engine, whose voicing can be switched between the Darkglass Vintage Microtubes and the Darkglass B3K, also ensures tonal variability in the form of excellent overdrive sounds. Accordingly, the amplifier covers a particularly wide gain spectrum, from the slightly compressive crunch to the vintage vintage overdrive in the middle and the brute distortion wrecking ball for modern metal. To maintain definition and pressure in the bass range, the clean signal can be continuously mixed in via the blend control.
Class D amplifier with 500 Watt
The modern Class D power amplifier of the Darkglass Microtubes 500 also releases sufficient power reserves for a near-life situation on the bass. Despite its ultra-compact dimensions and flyweight of just 1.7 kg, the top unit delivers 500 watts of power for a bloodcurdling bass sound that makes every sound played noticeable in the pit of the stomach. To ensure that the power arrives safely at the bass speaker, the top part offers a combination socket, which accepts a jack plug if required. Last but not least, the Darkglass Microtubes 500 offers a balanced XLR output with pre/post switch and ground lift, which makes it much easier to pick up the bass signal on stage or in the recording studio.
On the back of the Darkglass Microtube are the serial effect path, the balanced XLR output and connectors for speakers and headphones.
