Firebird in the "Tuxedo Look

The Gibson Firebird Custom Ebony from the Gibson Custom Shop Collection combines the traditional design from the pen of Rex Dietrich with elegant Tuxedo look of the popular Black Beauty Les Paul Customs. While the deep black nitrocellulose finish and the typical custom appointments in the form of multi-ply bindings, gold-plated Hardware and mother-of-pearl fingerboard inlays perfectly set off the electric guitar, the classic all-mahogany construction with ebony fingerboard promises first-class playing characteristics and a powerful sound. Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers promise powerful clean and overdrive sounds at the guitar amplifier for the wide field between blues, rock and heavy metal. Last but not least, a classic Tune-O-Matic bridge with matching Stopbar tailpiece and tuning stable Grover Rotomatic tuners complete the Firebird Custom from Gibson.

The Gibson Firebird Custom Ebony electric guitar combines the successful Sixties design of the legendary car designer Ray Dietrich with the elegant "Tuxedo Look" of the Les Paul Custom.

A belly cut on the back of the body and the mahogany neck in "Medium C" profile promise comfortable handling of the Firebird Custom.

Firebird in traditional set-neck design

For the construction of the Firebird Custom, the Luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop use proven manufacturing techniques and high-quality woods to achieve a powerful sound and first-class playing characteristics. The mahogany neck is accordingly glued to the mahogany body via the desirable Long Neck Tenon and fitted with an exclusive ebony fingerboard in which large block inlays of genuine mother-of-pearl mark the courses. The not-too-bold "Medium C" neck profile with 42.9 mm nut width also fits comfortably in the hand, allowing classic and modern playing techniques to come off with ease.

With Gibson 490R and 498T humbuckers, the Firebird Custom delivers versatile sounds for blues, rock and classic heavy metal.

With a Gibson 490R humbucker in neck position and a corresponding Gibson 498T humbucker at the bridge, two of the most popular pickups from the Gibson line-up take over the sound transformation of the Firebird Custom electric guitar. The subtly modernized, particularly warm PAF sound of the neck humbucker and the powerful , mid-range Alnico tone of the hot bridge pickup make the Firebird Custom the ideal all-rounder for tradition-conscious blues, rock and metal sounds. A hand-wired circuit with a robust Switchcraft toggle switch for pickup selection and separate volume and tone pots from CTS for each pickup also grants full control over the guitar sound.

Grover Rotomatic tuners in 6-in-line arrangement promise accurate and stable tuning of the electric guitar.

Of course, the Gibson Custom Shop elegant Firebird Custom guitar with reliable hardware that more than meets professional demands for touring and studio sessions. A classic stopbar tailpiece guides the strings of the electric guitar to the proven Gibson Tune-O-Matic bridge, which guarantees precise intonation and comfortably playable string position with precise adjustment options. On the headstock in the typical Firebird Style Grover Rotomatic tuners also ensure accurate tuning with bombproof stability.
