With the Gibson SG Standard 2017 T, the Gibson USA Factory from Nashville, Tennessee presented the flagship version of the legendary rockboard. Based on the legendary mahogany construction and equipped with Gibson 57 Classic humbuckers, the electric guitar delivers the legendary SG sound, which is perfect for expressive blues and rock. The comfortably playable "Slim Taper" neck guarantees a high playing comfort, while the hardware equipment convinces with unrestricted functionality.
Classically built rock guitar
In designing the Gibson SG Standard 2017 T, the Nashville guitar builders followed the specifications established in 1961 and produced the characteristically horned body in mahogany, while the glued neck is made of the same material and carries a rosewood fretboard. Accordingly, the electric guitar has a warm sound with a lively response that makes its mark on blues and rock. Thanks to the "Slim Taper" profile, the freestanding neck, which can be played freely up to the highest positions, also lies comfortably in the hand.
Powerful humbucker sound with SG character
The Gibson SG Standard 2017 T uses the Gibson '57 Classic at the neck and the Gibson '57 Classic+ as pickups, two absolute classics among the Gibson Humbuckers. With moderate output and classic alnico magnets, they deliver a powerful humbucker sound for blues and rock, whose airy response and warm tone development let the character of the legendary PAFs shine through. The cartridges are managed by the proven circuit with 3-way toggle and individual volume and tone controls.
High-quality hardware
High-quality hardware completes the Gibson SG Standard 2017 T. Ted McCarty's established combination of aluminium stopbar and Tune-O-Matic bridge is used on the body, ensuring perfect adjustment of intonation and string position. From here, the strings are guided with a 24.75" scale in the direction of the headstock, where they are guided via the tektoid saddle to the Grover Locking Rotomatic mechanisms, which convince with high tuning stability and easy string changes.
