With the Jackson X Series Signature Scott Ian King V KVXT Ivory, the Californian hard'n'heavy forge and the Anthrax guitarist present a jointly developed electric guitar for heavy metal. Based on the sleek King V design, the Scott Ian Signature electric guitar features a neck-thru construction with maple neck and mahogany body and Duncan Designed humbuckers for fat thrash sounds, while the combination of Ivory finish and chrome hardware adds visual accents.
With the Jackson King V, Scott Ian chose a classic metal guitar as the basis for his signature model. The combination of a neck-thru maple neck and mahogany body wings promises a warm, fast attack tone that provides the perfect foundation for fat metal riffs. To ensure that these come out of your hand like clockwork, the neck offers the fast "Speed Neck" profile and a wide Laurel fretboard with compound radius. Furthermore large block inlays provide for best orientation between the 22 jumbo frets.
The electrical sound conversion of the Jackson X Series Scott Ian Signature is handled by two Duncan Designed HB-103 humbuckers in the neck and bridge position. As close relatives of the Seymour Duncan Distortion pickups, these two high output units turn out to be the perfect basis for fat riffs and solos. The Duncan Designed HB-103B at the bridge delivers a particularly hot sound that cuts through the band mix with a sharp mid-focus and burning highs, with each stroke being portrayed with precise contours. At the neck, on the other hand, the HB-103N convinces with a warm sound that makes every note sing with endless sustain. But even on clean settings both pickups know how to please with harmonic output and excellent string separation.
High-quality hardware that can handle the toughest metal shows with indestructible functionality completes the Jackson Scott Ian Signature King V. Accordingly, the classic combination of Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece is used on the body, which ensures perfect intonation and string action even in the lowest drop tunings. From the bridge, the strings run towards the headstock at 24.75" scale length, on which Jackson die-cast tuners ensure precise and stable tuning.
This guitar is a player. The only complain is that it had to much space between strings and neck pup. And pickup was on it max height. It was about 5mm distance. I nearly sent it back. But a had a pick ring that i used instead. So now its 1,5 mm instead. sounds and plays like a killer.
Overall great playing guitar, pickups are not artist pickups but do the job well enough. Old school look with the pick guard and block inlays with the Jackson king V lines. Really love the candy apple red colour. Very satisfied with this guitar.
