The virtual-analog Kick DrumKickain from Knobula really kicks ass in the mix thanks to the integrated side-chain compressor! The fat basic sound is audibly inspired by Roland's TR-909 and covers a wide range of sounds thanks to its broad control ranges. If you like it a bit harder, simply turn up the Drive control. Kick Drums and side chain compression are particularly important for electronic music, as they often make everything blend in and the Kick continues to dominate the mix. The module intelligently manages low-frequency artifacts and removes overlapping frequencies or transients. The end result is a clean, tight mastering standard mix with a resounding Kick drum. In addition to the normal side-chain effect, where the volume is ducked around the KickDrum, Kickain has two spectral compressor modes that adjust the incoming Mix (hence the audio inputs) to the triggered drum sound, continuously 1000 times per second. Ultimately, the volume of the Kick is optimized without the overall mix becoming obtrusively "pumped". The tracks sound tighter and richer in the lower range, while the Kick is always present. As an alternative to stereo operation, the module can be used in mono mode, from which point the send/return option is available to process the Kick with a filter or distortion, for example. The Kick is given the finishing touch with the excellent sounding 24-bit stereo digital reverb, which ranges from subtle room sound to a 10-second rave reverb.
