An oscillator is the central sound-generating element of a synthesizer and, in the classic sense, describes oscillation forms that are generated by analogue circuits. In addition to these oscillation forms such as "sawtooth" or "pulse", the KingKorg NEO also contains recorded sounds of a piano or organ. Each of the NEO's three oscillators can select one of the waveforms and mix them to create an overall sound.
A filter is the central sound-changing element of a synthesizer. In the original sense, sound components are removed from the signal (e.g. low-cut filter or band-pass filter), but there are also filter parameters that simultaneously boost certain frequencies. Important parameters here are the cutoff frequency and the resonance, for which the KingKORG NEO has a dedicated control.
