The Native Instruments KOMPLETE KONTROL M32 isn't just a keyboard for playing instruments, it also works great as a flexible and intuitive master controller for software. Thanks to the eight touch-sensitive knobs, push encoders with four directions of movement and tag-based browsing, it's child's play to browse through sounds, adjust effects and record automations. An OLED display provides visual feedback at all times. Operation for KOMPLETE instruments and effects is pre-configured, but full support for VSTi and VST effects is also provided. MASCHINE software can be seamlessly controlled with the M-Series keyboards, intuitive control of
This would be an excellent keyboard controller if it wasn't for one crucial flaw - you cannot adjust the velocity response anywhere. It is fixed. It wouldn't be a problem if the keyboard didn't have atrocious velocity response, meaning you have to really hammer the keys in order to get maximum values.
Otherwise the knobs feels great they are capacitive touch sensitive meaning that as soon as you touch them you know what parameter you're going to change. Also they are endless encoders which is cool. The design is very nice and simplistic, and everything is perfectly responsive. The collection of instruments, loops, one-shots and effects you get, combined with the free komplete start package really lets you jump straight in music production.
Sadly i cannot recommend this keyboard for expressive players.
I got this mainly for the software package (needed the NI Maschine software). Wasn't expecting anything tbh, I don't trust YouTube "influencers". But I'm pleasantly surprised! The keys are a bit bigger than the KORG style "micro" keys, and the keybed feels good. Pleasant to play with even though it's not full-size keys.
Knobs are always handy, and I don't even mind the touch strips instead of pitch bend / mod wheels. What I'm not a big fan of though are the buttons. They're back-lit and look fantastic, but they're unpleasant to use. Hard click plastic feeling, makes me question their longevity. Maybe it's the other way around, and they're like this specifically to withstand many heated battles. Who knows :) Overall, this is a hell of a package for the money. Thumbs up NI!
This little MIDI is everything you need to get started with a little MIDI controller. The 32 keys are for sure a plus compared to the 25-key devices in the similar price range.
I'm an owner of a Maschine Mk3 and user of numerous plug ins, and it was while watching a You Tube plug in review that I saw the M32. I watched further reviews of this keyboard controller and as a producer that takes my gear to various studio locations, buying the M32 was a no brainer, I had to have it. It's simply brilliant, and navigating around it is both easy and informative. An absolute great purchase.
