PRS David Grissom Signature Electric guitar
The PRS DGT Birds Charcoal electric guitar is the result of many years of collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and the busy session guitarist David Grissom, who has appeared as a sideman for the Dixie Chicks and Allman Brothers Band, among others. Blessed with the genes of the coveted PRS McCarty, the PRS DGT has a mahogany body with a curly maple top and a gluedmahogany neck in the strong but comfortable "DGT" profile. Two PRS DGT humbuckers specially tuned to David Grissom's sound preferences deliver top-class vintage sounds on the guitar amplifier, whose métier is lively clean and overdrive sounds between country, Blues and rock. Thanks to the coil split option, the PRS DGT guitar also delivers first-class coil sounds with high transparency and lively dynamics. Last but not least, a PRS Gen III tremolo and PRS Phase III locking tuners complete the PRS DGT Birds Charcoal.
The appearance of the PRS DGT Birds is characterized by the impressive grain of the curly maple top and the transparent charcoal finish.
Thanks to the glued neck and body cutaways, even the higher frets are easy to reach.
PRS construction and features
The proven composition of solid mahoganybody and neck provides absolute stability, while the two-piece flamed maple top with its memorable flame emphasizes both the tonal transparency and the Charcoal Finish of the PRS DGT Birds. Furthermore, the neck texture and the wide DGT neck profile create ideal playing conditions for the 22-flush rosewood fretboard, which creates a comfortable foundation for riffs and licks with a 10-inch radius. Of course, a reliable selection was made for the hardware equipment of the DGT Birds and accordingly a PRS Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners offer further tonal stability and facilitate string changes.
The humbuckers developed by PRS and David Grissom are precisely tailored to the guitarist's wishes.
DGT Humbucker
Two PRS DGT humbuckers with David Grissom voicing are responsible for the sound conversion of the DGT Birds Charcoal, from which a wide sound spectrum can be elicited via a classic 3-way circuit, as well as two volume and one tone control with push/pull Coil-Split function. The tonal qualities of the two dual coilers are expressed in a combination of rhythm and solo sound with Texas voicing, which is particularly convincing in the areas between blues, rock and country with elegant warmth.
