The Roland TD-1DMK E-Drum Set is a compact electronic drum set from the V-Drums series with mesh heads and 10 coaching functions. The Roland sound module has 15 preset kits with elaborately produced drum sounds. With the free optional "Melodic for V-Drums" software you can improve your skills and learn to play drums step by step. 15 songs for playing along are already pre-stored in the module. The TD-1DMK E-Drum Set is much quieter than its predecessors thanks to the double-layered mesh heads, so you can also play drums at home. Included are three cymbal pads (Crash, Ride, HiHat), three 6" tom pads (PDX-6A), one 8" snare pad (PDX-8), a double-pedal kick pad, hi-hat controller, rack and all cables. A metronome is also integrated in the Roland module. All settings can be intuitively tracked via a simple LED display. A MIX IN allows you to connect a smartphone to drum to your favourite songs. In addition, the TD-1 module can be connected to a computer via USB cable to trigger a DAW via MIDI.
Both the 8 inch PDX-8 snare pad and the 6.5 inch PDX-6 tom pads are from the Roland Pro series and are covered with silent mesh heads. These pads not only offer advantages due to their minimal noise development, they can also be played much better and convince with rich rebound and sensitive response. The snare pad has an extra wide rim for rim shots and has an actual diameter of 10 inches. The included bass drum pad offers space for two beaters and can therefore be played with any double pedal. This means that even demanding double bass techniques can easily be implemented on the Roland TD-1DMK E-Drum Set.
The 10 inch CY-5 pads serve as hi-hat, crash and ride cymbals, and thanks to their natural vibration behaviour they can be played almost like real cymbals. Crash and Ride pads support two separate trigger zones for center and edge. The Hi-Hat convinces with a smooth transition between open and closed sound.
The TD-1DMK also cuts an excellent figure as a teaching drum kit, packed with 10 different exercise and learning functions, the sound module has something for every taste. With the help of the MIX IN connection, it is also possible to connect a smartphone or MP3 player to the module to play your favourite songs. With the recording function you can record your playing and analyze it afterwards. The free "Melodic for V-Drums" software is a virtual Drum Coach, which brings you closer to playing drums step by step.
The TD-1DMK E-Drum Set connects easily to your computer via USB, so you can record, save and arrange your songs directly in your DAW. Please note: For this purpose additional cables are required which are not included in the scope of delivery.
Roland TD-1DMK V-Drums Digital Drum Kit (Black)As a first E drum purchase and for someone straddling the beginner/intermediate mark this set is brilliant. The frame is nice and solid with plenty of adjustability and I can’t fault the sound and triggering of the pads, if I have one quibble it’s that the TD1 brain is not as well specced as some of its rivals but it’s a minor niggle.
My first experience with a Roland product and first e drum set has left me fairly speechless.
The assembly instructions are clear which is unusual for most products requiring building. Manual for the drum brain likewise.
Very sturdy frame, mesh drums are quiet and responsive, when plugged into pc and using DAW and software the triggering is exceptional. Cymbal pads are dual zone (as are drums) and all have surprising dynamic range. The sounds and coaching facilities in the unit itself are way better than what you'd expect from this price range.
Wanted a kit for practising my timing, for improving as a drummer as well as recording demos - however this model could go further than that, no doubt whatsoever.
For anyone wanting an all in one household and gigging kit for a price that doesn't cause anxiety, the Roland TD1DMK cannot be ignored.

If you are looking for a compact edrum for practice in your apartment, this is what you need. It is compact, solid but not too heavy, with all the characteristic of Roland quality built. It got 15 preset drums and 15 preset songs to play along. If you are looking for a edrum for live performance, you should look for a more advance model. To minimize the vibration noise produced by the kick pad, my advice is to build (or buy) a noise reduction platforms to put under each of the 4 posts and under the pedal. The neighbor below your apartment will thank you.
Very happy with the product. All seems to very well and sturdy. Easy set up! The mesh feels very realistic in comparison to my old yamaha electronic kit. Looks very nice and sleek too! The drum module is a little bit limited in what it can do but fine for a practice kit and the preset sounds are nice! Also Not sure if its my headphones but the kit could be a bit louder also the tom pads are quite small so you have to make sure your hits are precise these may be worth upgrading. Very quick delivery and all packaged up very well.
Please note if you are a UK customer and order one this could get sent with an EU plug as mine did!
Purchased during lockdown as I can't use my acoustic kits at home. Overall it's been a great purchase so far. Easy to assemble, reassuringly sturdy and does exactly what I need it to as a practice kit.
The TD1 module is limited, so don't expect a huge array of functionality or range of options but what is on there is very good.
The only negative I have is that the kit came supplied with an EU plug for the AC adaptor. Not a huge issue as I have converters but worth being aware of for UK customers.
