The TC Electronic Flashback 2 X4 in video:
Delay effect pedal with nine algorithms, loop recorder and MASH footswitches
With the TC Electronic Flashback 2 X4 Delay, the Danish effects manufacturer presents the revised flagship of its delay pedals, whose repertoire not only includes top-class delay sounds, but also a practical loop recorder. Nine delay algorithms are available for traditional tape echoes and slap backs as well as modern dynamic, crystal and reverse delays. You can also store your own presets or TC Electronic tone prints in one of six memory locations. In addition to the tap tempo function with subdivision for the rhythm of the repeats, the TC Electronic Flashback also offers three MASH footswitches with a pressure sensor, which can be used to control effect parameters in real time.
I haven't had this very long, but I am already blown away with the sound quality and the sheer scale of what it can do. Very easy to use, including beaming tone prints from the App. The only drawback, if you can call it such, is the complexity of the tone print editor, which could be a little daunting. £175 for an absolute beast of a delay, with just about any permutation your mind could dream of, from simple slap back to mind boggling sweeps ans swoops. Add in the MASH function, which can alter programmable parameters and the sky is you limit. Very impressive piece of kit.
Good quality, but a three-trick pony, and one trick i really don't like. It's all personal whether it does what you want it to or not. I was hoping for it to do something other than what it does. It may yield better results when I get time to dig deeper into it.
I have previously had an original Flashback 4 and Alter Ego X 4 which were both superb and were faultless, so the new version was of great intrerest with the extra pre set slots and mash switches, I use mine for my vocals and its great to be able to use a pedal for my voice in the same way you would for a guitar and this new version is just way better.
Huge range of options by itself but even more with the toneprint app. Looper and mod effects make it much more than a delay pedal and it’s built like a tank!
