Tritonaudio FetHead Phantom

I bought this specifically to boost mic gain on the Zoom H4N portable recorder while using external shotgun microphone. It provides a modest but useful boost at source which allows lower recording level, reducing noise. It is also effective on a Focusrite 2i4, another noisy low-gain device which also benefits from pre-amplification. Operationally, the connectors fit mics and cables without looseness. Why is the craftsmanship not rated 5 star? The diamond-shaped TritonAudio badge is untidily glued to the case. Just a small detail but when the badge is not straight, we might wonder if that is the assembly standard of the unit itself.

The manual i received with item mentioned only Z-in=1000Ohm, but on the MusicStore product webpage mentioned Z-in=20000Ohm. Something smells wrong. But in terms of operation it does the job. Useful item in a gear pocket, but Price is TOO much in my opinion... If the price was twice lower, i probably purchased 8 items instead of 2...

Use it straight away and gain reduced by half and recording sounds awesome. I was doubtful when I ordered but over the moon now!!

I bought two of these so I wouldn't have to push the gain as far as I usually have to on my Behringer UMC interfaces and also any other preamps I use (TL-Audio and Slate VMS One). They work very well and it's possible to get a lovely clean signal with plenty of gain without having to induce any hiss. Very easy to find a sweet spot. Highly recommended.
