The EnvVCA from 4ms is a creative combination of VCA and envelope respectively LFO. The VCA is primarily suitable for processing and modulating audio signals. Since the envelope is normalized to the VCA, no additional wiring is necessary here. The envelope is more like a function generator, which can optionally work as an attack/release envelope or LFO. For the rise (attack) and fall (release) times there are three speed ranges each, is eg. Fast for Fall is activated, the generated voltages comfortably reach the audio range, which is perfect for AM and FM. For example, sideband modulation can be added to a single VCO but also to a complete signal path. In LFO mode (Cycle), the waveform and its speed are set with the controls. Here the module also distinguishes whether a Gate is present or not. Without Gate the circuit behaves like a free-running LFO, with Gate rise and fall are looped until Gate ends again. The two main parameters Rise and Fall have a common CV input but separate attenuators, which significantly increases the dynamics and variations of the generated voltages. Users who like to experiment will appreciate the trigger input for the cycle function, then eg. the envelope can turn into an LFO for half a beat and vice versa. The Follow input acts as a slew limiter or envelope follower, depending on the mode and input signal.
