I'll start off by saying that I am a 55 year old bassist and collector of premium bass guitars - including a few of my favorites from the 80's & 90's, one of which is the Guild Pilot bass which was discontinued in 1995...As it happens, I needed to find a suitable replacement for missing or damaged original Pilot bass cases and I wanted to find a case which was as close to the original cases as possible in size, construction and looks...On paper, this case seemed to be as good as it gets and it was easily available...However, I was a bit leery of it at first thanks to it's manufacturing country of origin and put off buying it for quite some time before finally deciding to take a gamble - am I ever glad I did...! The case showed up and, in general, it was 100% better than I imagined it would be - it has been a long, long time since I've bought something that surprised me by surpassing my (high) expectations like this case did...By today's standards, this case is an eyebrow-raising oddity - it's actually a serious, well thought out, well-made case at a very fair price...! In fact, I'd even go as far to say that designer of this case was a bassist him/herself - only someone who actually cared about the instrument being put inside this case would put in extra-thick inner padding where it really matters and put an end-to-end inner seal between the inside of the case and the hinges...! Ultimately, this case is at least as well-made made as the original case it's meant to replace, if not better...! The *only* thing that I can find "wrong" with this case is that it's 3-4cm too short for all of my needs - that means it's not optimal for Guild Pilot basses with the "cakeknife" headstock, but it's absolutely perfect for Pilots with "foot" headstocks...Anyway, I'll be buying at least one more of these cases in the near future, and I've also bought two of the "snakeskin 5-string bass" versions - with the same results. Buy this case without hesitation if the measurements work for you and you want a great old school case.
