Construction-wise, the five-string features a body made of selected hardwood and a five-piece bolted neck made of roasted maple, while the sculpted-neck joint and slim neck profile create optimal playing conditions. The powerful Music Man standard neodymium humbucker with 3-band tone control furthermore ensures a detailed and variable sound representation, with even the low B-string being perfectly reproduced. Last but not least, the StingRay 5 Special bass guitar features lightweight Music ManCustom bass tuners specially designed for this model and a Music ManVintage top-load bridge.

Classic wood selection with high playing comfort
With the StingRay 5 Special RW Burnt Ends, Music Man relies on a classic wood selection that guarantees a crisp and balanced output from the low B to the high G string. Accordingly, the bass guitar features a body made of carefully selected hardwood and an extremely stable neck made of roasted maple, whose rosewood fingerboard carries 22 stainless steel frets in "High Profile, Wide" format. With the optimized lines of the body, the Bass furthermore sits comfortably against the body, while the C-neck profile in a wax-oil finish lets every groove come out of the fingers easily.

The electrical tone conversion of the StingRay 5 Special is handled by a Music Man standard neodymium humbucker specially developed for this model, whose powerful magnets guarantee a powerful and defined output of all strings. Via the 3-way blade switch, the coils of the humbucker can be called up in three combinations. Here, the parallel connection delivers the typical StingRay sound with tight bass foundation and brilliant highs, while the serial mode provides an extremely powerful sound with high assertiveness. Also available is a filtered series circuit that delivers a lean tone with single-coil character. About the active 3-band tone control, which has an enormous headroom thanks to 18-volt supply, the sound can be adjusted furthermore precisely.

Last but not least, the StingRay Special 5 RW Burnt Ends 5-String Bass from Music Man convinces with a perfectly matched hardware equipment. At the headstock Music Man Custom Lightweight tuners in typical "4+1" arrangement are used, which guarantee a precise Tuning and counteract head heaviness by using lightweight materials. On the body also sits the Music Man Vintage Top-Load bridge made of steel, whose mass supports sound development and Sustain of the five-stringer.
It is high quality instrument, everything I have expected from Music man StingRay. A new thing for me, it is very light weight for a 5 string StingRay.
