The Remo ENCORE Pinstripe clear 10" is a transparent head with the name-giving Pinstripe and is made of two layers of Mylar. The double layer pinstripe heads from Remo are undoubtedly among the classics among drum heads. The Pinstripe heads are known for especially fat, deep sounds with moderate attack and very short sustain and are often found in pop and rock music as well as in R´n´B. In the versions "Clear" and "Coated" the Pinstripe heads consist of two layers of Mylar with a thickness of 7 mil (approx. 0.18 mm) each.
Sound: Fast decay, deep tone and moderate attack, moderate response; ideal for "fat" pop, rock, R&B and metal sounds.
The Remo Encore heads are the price-performance star from Remo's head range. The heads are manufactured in the Taiwanese Remo factory according to the design of their American siblings. A difference is made when attaching the Mylar film to the aluminum ring:
Instead of connecting the two with liquid glue, the striking surface is pressed into the aluminum ring together with a steel core and thus firmly joined together.
Still get that classic, dampened sound (ideal for rock and metal of course) with plenty of attack! Much less expensive compared to the original heads. That might limit your tuning options but that doesn't bother me as I know how to tune a head and get it sounding good, even on cheap drums. For the price they can't be beat! (pun intended, just saw it haha)
