The basic construction of the Sandberg California TT4 Passive Fretless follows the classic specifications with Alder for the body and Maple for the 6x bolted neck. A special feature, however, is the fretless fretboard made of hard ebony, which prevents the strings from digging in. This gives the four-string the typical, singing fretless sound, whose smooth tone development gives every note that certain something. In order not to lose orientation, the fretboard offers side-lines that mark the position of the frets.

Single Coils with Alnico Magnet:

The electric tone conversion of the Sandberg California TT4 Passive Fretless is done by two Sandberg Single Coil Pickups, which transmit the singing fretless bass sound of the 4-string with detailed dynamics to the amplifier. Thanks to the classic construction with two Alnico Magnets Pro strings, the pickups deliver a classic vintage bass sound whose high transparency harmoniously reproduces every note. In addition, the classic passive circuit with two volume and one tone controls allows a wide range of different sound nuances to be called up, so that the four-string bass can be played in every genre.

The Sandberg California TT4 Fretless is equipped with in-house hardware. The Sandberg Bridge 4 with its heavy construction ensures an even tone development and long sustain on the body, while its string riders, adjustable in three dimensions, not only guarantee a perfect adjustment of intonation and string position, but also allow the string spacing to be matched to personal preferences. Four Sandberg Machine Heads at the headstock also ensure a precise and long-lasting tuning.
