Four-string fretless bass with fretless ebonol fretboard and split coil pickup
The Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass Fretless 3-Color Sunburst combines the classic knock-out sound with the singing sound of a fretless Ebenol fingerboard. The classically designed Agathis body and the screwed maple neck in the "C"-profile offer the usual smooth-running playing comfort. A Fender Designed Split Coil in the mid-position is used as pickup, whose striking thrust in the low midrange skilfully reproduces the singing fretless sound. Last but not least, the Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass Fretless features the traditional 4-Saddle Pure Vintage bridge and precise Vintage Style tuners.

The Squier Vintage Modified Precision Bass Fretless in video:
I bought this Fender Squier Fretless because of the price and specs, not hoping to get a hand built masterpiece...
The sound is great the pickups are very close to the american vintage ones with that P-Bass character. They are well insulated with almost no static or hum. Electronics are ok, with 250k split shaft pots and a decent jack (good contact, no noises...)
The neck is made from hard maple and the fingerboard is made from ebonol (some kind of plastic as Im aware) with cream fretlines. It is very comfortable to play and also very fast. To a more purist sound and to preserve the fingerboard I recommend switching the strings to flatwounds...
The body is made from Agathis and is very light: too much for my taste because it causes the neck to drop a bit when playing with a strap...
In the hardware chapter, the tuners are nice, the barrels, plates, screws are ok but the bridge is horrible! It does the job but the plating is irregular and misses some areas... Its a shame...
The finish (paint job and varnish) is bad. The Indonesian factory should improve their quality control. I noticed bad sanding spots in the wood and clots/drops of paint and varnish.
I like to play this bass, I like the tone of this bass but unfortunately I dont love this bass...
