The Earthquaker Devices Zoar Dynamic Audio Grinder is a distortion pedal that can be used for everything from medium distortion to powerful high-gain sounds. Thanks to its variable operating voltage of 9 to 18 volts, the Zoar skillfully combines the clear and tidy tightness of modern distortion pedals with the unique sound character of classic vintage circuits, almost drifting off into Fuzz, so that it can easily handle a wide variety of genres from hard rock to modern metal. In addition to the usual controls for gain and Level, the weight control influences the amount of low-end in the circuit. Further tonal adjustments are also available with the 3-band EQ, which is also on board.
