The modified Stratocaster has accompanied Michael Landau since he was 16 years old and is a legend among the Fender Stratocasters. The LA session guitarist's affectionately christened "Coma" Strat can be heard on countless recordings, including its sound adorning songs by musical greats such as Michael Jackson, Joni Mitchell, Pink Floyd and Miles Davis. The Fender Stories Collection Michael Landau Coma Stratocaster replica is an edition of this guitar in its current condition and was designed in collaboration with Michael Landau and fitted with Fender Custom ML Noiseless pickups. When Michael Landau bought the 1959 Fender Stratocaster, it was already modified, which facilitated further wrenching on it. Throughout his career, Michael Landau has changed, developed and modified his Coma Strat to suit his needs.

The bolt-on maple neck in a custom 'C' profile offers flexible playing options over the traditional 21 frets of the buttery soft rosewood fingerboard. Furthermore, the Coma Strat features indestructible Fender hardware appointments, as well as a vintage-style tremolo with a cold-rolled steel block and Fender Classic tuning tuners.

The Fender Wide Range CuNiFe Humbucker is the first of its kind since its conception forty years ago

Custom HSS pickup configuration with Fender CuNiFe humbucker.

The pickup configuration of the Coma-Strat has been developed in collaboration with Michael Landau, resulting in the Custom ML Noiseless Stratocaster Single-Coil pickups in neck and bridge positions. Furthermore, there is a Fender CuNiFe Wide Range Humbucker in the bridge position, which gives the Coma Strat a unique sound. Fender CuNiFe pickups are a rarity, which is now available again for the first time since their development by Seth Lover in 1971.
