Traditional Semihollow Construction
The ES-335, as a representative of the semi-hollow construction, features a classically crafted body, which is made of three-ply laminate of maple and poplar wood. The laminate construction, which has been tried and tested since the ES-175, is complemented by a solid centre block made of maple, which favours the resonance transmission of the strings into the body and ensures that the ES-335 can be played at high gain settings without any problems. As a special feature of the '61 model, the 1961 ES-335 Sixties Cherry Ultra Light Agedmahogany neck glued with longneck root features the classic slim Authentic '61 Skinny C Slim Taper neck profile of the era.
From the nitro finish to the texture of the hardware appointments, the 1961 ES-355 in Sixities Cherry has been given an extremely authentic aging finish.

For the right look and feel of a distinctive replica of the '61 ES-335 model in contemporary Sixties cherry, the entire know-how of Murphy Lab, founded by Tom Murphy, comes into play. The ageing experts have thoroughly examined numerous preserved models of the golden Gibson era, and paint texture, hardware ageing and typical playing traces of old originals to be able to implement as detailed as never before. The result is a successful ageing process at Ultra Light Aged level, representing the condition of an instrument that has been enormously well cared for over decades, with minimal nitro lacquer cracks and slight hardware ageing.
Authentic electrical equipment
The hand-wiredcircuit of the Gibson 1961 ES-335 Sixties Cherry Ultra Light Aged is also composed of two hand-wound custom bucker pickups, high-quality components from CTS and Switchcraft, and real oil-paper capacitors, and the sound and electrical layout of the prototype as close as possible. The two hand-wounddual coils are billed as replicas of the coveted PAF humbuckers and offer a moderate output that's up for all kinds of fun, from expressive cleans to steamy crunch tones.
