The NTG4 from Rode is a directional shotgun condenser microphone with a super-cardioid polar pattern in a robust, climate-resistant metal housing. 3 buttons with status LEDs for the high-pass filter (75Hz), pre-attenuation (-10dB) and presence boost, as well as a frequency range from 20 Hz to 20 kHz with high sensitivity (25 mV), low inherent noise (16 dB-A) and a maximum SPL of 135dB makes the NTG4 perfectly suited for any imaginable application.

Purchased this to help cut down on background noise in location recordings. SO far so good, it seems to be helping - although only used in test situations so far. It won't be going back though!!
Given 4/5 for sound, as I've been using more expensive mics up to now, and there is a slight drop in quality here - but probably only due to the type of mic- so it's difficult to rate in comparison to others.
