The Seagull Merlin Spruce EQ at a glance
With the new electro-acoustic version of the dulcimer-like Merlin, the manufacturer Seagull adds an easy-to-learn folk instrument with its very own charm and sound character to its range. Due to its open "D"-tuning and specially arranged 7 frets, a melodious chord unfolds with every one-finger grip, making this instrument a pleasure for beginners. A solidspruce top and a rock maple body produce a bright tone that echoes in the overtones for a long time and, thanks to a doubled "D" string, produces a gentle chorus effect.
For a comfortable grip a stable rock maple neck is used, which in combination with a slim 32.5 mm nut width offers enough space to easily handle even extensive grips. The short 527 mm scale length in combination with a String-Through-Body construction helps the woods used to vibrate freely and illustrates the craftsmanship of the manufacturer. Precise tuners and a natural-sounding pickup system round off the package perfectly and ensure a wide range of possible applications.
Well-built and surprisingly loud for its size. Tons of fun as it’s basically impossible to play “wrong notes” (it’s diatonic). Nice to have on the road, for kids or to add new sounds to your music. Highly recommended for the price!
