With the Jeff Loomis Blackouts Set the Californian pickup guru Seymour Duncan presents a pair of signature pickups, which were developed in close cooperation with the metal virtuoso. Loomis, who integrates complex chords as well as extremely fast leadlines into his playing, needed a transparent display and defined attack even with extreme drop-tunings and strong distortion. By using Alnico V magnets and an adapted preamp design it was possible to combine these wishes with a tight bass reproduction, which cannot be distinguished from a passive pickup, so that every detail of the game is preserved, but the tone is always rich and with pronounced sustain.

Neck pickup is very pleasant to listen but is little bit bass heavy but can be fixed by lowering pickup. Bridge pickup separates notes very but still gives the gain you need for metal or almost for any genre. Driving it with 18v makes it sound little bit bassier and mid range is not so high but it is only subtle change.
