The Allegro USB-C 2-Port PCIe Card is designed to expand your Mac Pro, Windows PC, Linux computer or Thunderbolt-to-PCIe expansion system with two 10Gb USB-C ports. Get up to 2x the data transfer rates compared to USB 3.0 and use a variety of external devices from different manufacturers to professionally expand your setup. Power is supplied via USB-C and delivers 15W per port to your SSDs, SSD RAID systems and other external drives. The ports are independently regulated, so if one USB-C port is overloaded, the other remains functional.
Furthermore, the USB-C card has resettable fuses for each of the two ports. This is to protect your computer and the card from defective peripherals. Should a power failure occur, the card can be easily reset by shutting down your computer.
To ensure maximum bandwidth even in older systems, the PCIe card works with PCIe Auto-Negotiation. It automatically negotiates an x1 data connection in a PCIe 3.0 slot and an x2 connection in a PCIe 2.0 slot.
For those with a Thunderbolt port instead of a PCIe slot, the Allegro USB-C PCIe card can also be used via Thunderbolt 2 or TB 3 expansion systems such as Sonnet Echo Express or xMac Thunderbolt-to-PCIe devices. In the combo, the card works at maximum performance.
Sonnet's USB-C PCIe card can be easily installed in a PCIe x4 slot. Included are a low-profile and eStandard bezel, while the card itself is hot-swappable. This means that USB devices can be plugged in and unplugged during operation. Furthermore, all USB-IF compliant USB peripherals are supported.
