sE Electronics DM2 T.N.T

Full power for the microphone signal

sE Electronics DM2 T.N.T Overview:

  • switchable gain in two steps: +15dB or +30dB gain
  • perfect for quiet, passive microphones
  • input impedance can be adjusted in 8 steps for various Pre amps
  • High-quality sound, consistently transparent/natural
  • state-of-the-art components and high-grade FETs for high SNR
  • also allows longer cable runs
  • reduces susceptibility to RF interference, hum and buzz
  • gold-plated XLR contacts
  • rugged and "explosive" design
  • requires 48V phantom power for operation
  • does not allow phantom power to reach the microphone
  • best to place directly at the microphone (after the cable works as well)

Two-Stage Gain and Switchable Impedance

The DM2 T.N.T is an active inline preamplifier. Compared to its little brother, the DM1, it offers switchable gain from a moderate 15dB to an explosive 30dB and even less noise. Thanks to the variable input load, it gets the most out of the microphone you have.

What can I use it for?

The DM2 T.N.T is predestined for microphones which, due to their design, only produce a low output level. This is especially the case with large-diaphragm dynamic microphones such as the SM7B or RE 20, or ribbon microphones such as the M160 or R-10. Since many microphone preamps do not provide sufficient gain for such microphones, the DM2 T.N.T is a good alternative to buying a new pre-amp with appropriate gain reserves.

Is my sound ruined then?

The DM2 delivers a very low noise and natural sounding signal. Of course, every link in the signal chain always involves some losses, but here sE Electronics has really managed to bring a product to market that reduces signal losses to a minimum. So you get their extra gain without losing the specifics of each microphone.

Rod with explosive power!
