The Fender Custom Shop team has repeatedly demonstrated that in addition to meticulously reproducing historically correct Stratocaster and Telecaster models, they are also prepared to break new ground and create instruments with an independent character that never deny the legacy of Fender's proud history.
The Fender Custom Shop '50s Thinline Telecaster Relic combines the design features of the 1950s and 1960s with an unusual pickup configuration to create a harmonious guitar with a charming rock'n'roll attitude. Hollow Thinline Bodies made of ash were first used in the late 1960s, while the one-piece maple neck can be clearly assigned to the 1950s. Together, this combination promises the typical basic tele-character with crisp attack and brilliant height spectrum, which is extended by a clearly audible, resonant acoustic timbre.
The strong "Nocaster U"-profile offers enough meat for a strong grip, but allows chords and licks to go loose. A tribute to the modern one is the 9.5" fret radius, which in combination with the medium jumbo frets allows pleasurable string pulling without dying tones.
As pickups for the '50s Thinline Telecaster Relic, the Custom Shop team chose an unusual yet harmonious combination of a P-90 on the neck and the typical single coil on the bridge.
The Seymour Duncan Antiquity P-90 in the Dog Ear case delivers a multi-faceted sound in the clean channel, which can't hide the bell-like tele-character, but with healthy warmth and smooth reproduction concerns jazzy geilge. In case of distortion, the Antiquity P-90 convinces with its fat, full reproduction, which makes solos sing and pushes chords powerfully out of the loudspeakers.
Typical Tele-Twang is the hand-wound Broadcaster Relic Singlecoil, both at the clean and pulling amplifier, whereby the biting assertiveness is heard in every band. In combination, the two pickups deliver a particularly open sound spectrum, which places accompanying chords with tangible plasticity in the room. In addition, both pickups react excellently to dynamics and technique, so that the tone shaping is in the player's hand.
High-quality hardware rounds off the harmonious overall package of the Fender Custom Shop '50s Thinline Telecaster Relic. The classic Tele bridge surrounds the bridge pickup and, thanks to the inclined "Gatton" double rider, ensures perfect adjustment of intonation and string position, while the string guidance through the body promotes resonance transmission. Vintage-style mechanics on the headstock ensure perfect tuning stability with high reliability.
