The Gibson ES-345 Sixties Cherry is an aesthetically enhanced interpretation of the coveted ES design with chic split parallelogram and small crown inlays and elegant bindings on body and fretboard. This semi-acoustic model from the Gibson Original Collection also convinces in terms of sound and handling. Two Gibson Calibrated T-Type humbuckers in combination with the traditional Electric Spanish body, which has a maple centre block for stability in addition to the top and back and sides made of maple poplar laminate, promise resonant and dynamic blues and rock sounds in the style of the early seventies. With the not too strong "Rounded C" profile, the set-in mahogany neck lies comfortably in the hand. A traditional and reliable hardware configuration, which uses precise vintage deluxe tuners in addition to the proven duo of Tune-O-Matic bridge and stopbar tailpiece, completes the Gibson ES-345 Sixties Cherry.
The design of the Gibson ES-345 follows the traditional guidelines of the Electric Spanish design developed under Ted McCarty. Accordingly, the thinline body with top, back and sides made of three-layer maple poplar laminate is stabilised by a centre block of thermally treated maple, so that this semi-acoustic electric guitar has a resonant and airy acoustic sound component, without the tendency to produce ambient noise at higher volumes. The set-in mahogany neck with its "Rounded C" profile offers comfortable playability up to the 22nd fret of the rosewood fingerboard. Naturally the Gibson ES-345 comes with upscale aesthetic details that include split parallelogram inlays in the fretboard, a small crown inlay in the headstock and elegant bindings around the fretboard and body.
The electrical sound conversion of the Gibson ES-345 Sixties Cherry is provided by a Gibson Calibrated T-Type Rhythm humbucker on the neck and a Gibson Calibrated T-Type Lead humbucker in bridge position. As authentic replicas of the Gibson T-Top Humbuckers from the early seventies, the pickups convince with a dynamic and transparent sound that skilfully captures the character of the semi-acoustic electric guitar, bringing the clean and overdrive sounds of jazz, blues and rock to life. To control the pickups, there is the classic hand-wired 3-way circuit with separate volume and tone controls, which allows particularly harmonious treble roll-offs thanks to orange drop capacitors.
Last but not least, a classic hardware configuration with proven reliability completes the Gibson ES-345 Sixties Cherry. The body of the instrument features the proven combination of an aluminium stopbar tailpiece and a Gibson ABR-1 Tune-O-Matic bridge, which ensures optimum adjustment of intonation and string action. Behind the GraphTech nut, Gibson vintage deluxe tuners with traditional Keystone buttons ensure precise and stable tuning.
