The Ibanez S521-MOL (Mahogany Oil) combines amazing quality and stunning value in an effort to bring the cutting edge design and style of the acclaimed S Series guitars to a much wider audience.
The Ibanez S521 features a lightweight sculpted mahogany body that is accompanied by a Wizard III Maple neck and topped with a 24-fret Rosewood fingerboard with off-set white dot inlays. This combination helps to produce an incredibly playable guitar that sings with incredible harmonics and sustain.
The body of the S521 comes equipped with 2x Ibanez Quantum passive ceramic humbucker pick-ups that produce incredible tone and dynamics that hark back to those made by the original S-models. Accompanying the pick-ups is a standard fixed bridge that allows for incredibly quick tuning and string changes.
In position 1 and 5 of the 5-way pick-up selector switch respectively, the bridge or the neck pick-up can be activated independently, whilst in position 3 both pick-ups work together. In position 2 only the inner coils of the 2x humbuckers are activated together, producing a bright tone. In position 4 the coils of the neck humbucker are connected in parallel, the sound loses output and the mids are highlighted less.
The main features of the Ibanez S521-MOL (Mahogany Oil) include:
Neck/fretboard feels great. Really solid to play. Fret metal is smooth enough to allow easy movement around the fretboard. It's also pretty light. Didn't realise this model didn't have any kind of trem setup, which I'm a bit disappointed about, but that's my fault for not noticing.
