With the SA-126 Special EB matte Army Drab, developed by none other than Wolfgang van Halen himself, EVH is breaking completely new ground between traditional solidbody design and refreshing semi-hollow sounds. The semi-resonant instrument features two humbuckers specially made for the model for a multi-faceted sound ranging from sophisticated shredding to expressive clean playing, while the neck with its classic slim profile and rising compound fretboard radius ensures the usual EVH playability. Furthermore, the EVH SA-126 Special comes in a matching EVH
In contrast to many well-known semi-hollow guitars, which are made up of separate parts for the back, top and sides, the EVH SA-126 Special has a mahogany body with a hollow-milled resonance chamber in the upper half of the body with a strikingly shaped F-hole and an additional center block made of basswood. The result is a perfect combination of the direct response of a solidbody electric guitar and the warm acoustic timbre of the semi-hollow construction. The body is finished off with a 5-ply body binding in black and cream.
Two EVH SA-126 humbuckers wound especially for the instrument are used to skillfully capture the unique sound of the SA-126 and adequately reproduce it via amplifiers. While the bridge pickup provides everything for fans of powerful rock and metal sounds, the neck humbucker delivers amazingly warm and full sounds that can even be used for expressive jazz lines and vocal leads without any problems. For precise mixing of both pickups in the intermediate position, both pickups have their own volume and tone controls.
