To mark Epiphone's 150th anniversary, the traditional company is showing its affinity for historic builds by presenting reissues of iconic models. The Zephyr in the DeLuxe Regent version, completed with historically correct thin NY Mini humbuckers and Carousel controls, was produced by Epiphone only between 1948 and 1957, making it an absolute collector's item over the years. The famous go-to guitar of Blues legend John Lee Hooker is characterized by its workmanship with resonant tonewoods and lots of vintage charm.
The resonant body of the hollowbody electric guitar delivers a characterful timbre with warm nuances.
The Aged Antique Natural finish gives the Zephyr DeLuxe Regent an authentic vintage character.
Construction and tonewoods
For the composition of the Epiphone 150th Anniversary Zephyr DeLuxe Regent, attention was of course paid to historical accuracy with Epiphone recognition, and thus the top, back and sides are made of maple laminate. The glued neck made of a 5-strip combination of maple and mahogany is adorned with a dark ebony fingerboard, which is provided with Epiphone cloud inlays over 22 frets and convinces with comfortable playing conditions due to the generous body cutaway.
The headstock bears the original Epiphone script in addition to the Tree of Life inlay.
NY Mini humbucker and features
Faithfully modeled after the Kalamazoo Epiphone by Gibson Zephyr electric guitars, two thin Epiphone NY Mini humbuckers sit in the neck and bridge positions of the hollowbody, providing the ultimate tonal qualities for all kinds of jazz, Blues and rockabilly sounds with their clear warmth. Further Hardware in gold finish includes a trapeze tailpiece, as well as Epiphone Historic tuners on the iconic Epiphone headstock, which of course was also provided with the "Tree or Life" inlay.
