Hexinverter Mutant Clap in detail
The Mutant Clap from Hexinverter offers the iconic TR-909 Clap sound with an enormously expanded sound spectrum. In collaboration with Erica Synths, a revised, optimized circuit was created that is in no way inferior to the sound of the first Mutant generation. The module is extremely versatile in terms of the range of handclap percussion sounds. Part of the circuit is a voltage-controlled LFSR noise oscillator which can be used as an authentic C64 chiptune-style Noise VCO thanks to its own audio output. The noise oscillator can be replaced by an external signal. With Sustain the hold time of the clap sound is extended. The drive parameter ranges from clean to heavily overdriven. The switchable bandpass filter also plays a decisive role in the overall sound. As soon as this is active, the actual 909 character reaches completely different areas. The reverb effect is the crowning glory of the module, because - and most people agree on this - a simple reverb makes every clap sound better. There are control voltage inputs for the parameters ReverbDecay and Pitch. In addition to the trigger input, an accent input provides dynamic accents in the familiar TR manner.
