The SPONDE from IO Instruments is a high-quality audio and CV mixer with two combinable units with six inputs each. The low-distortion circuit allows each input to be amplified by a factor of x2, i.e. 6 dB. Two strings with up to six inputs can be operated without coloration. The first four inputs per group have their own signal outputs, allowing the module to operate as an eightfold attenuator. An impressive twelve inputs are obtained by leaving output A unpatched, so the first six inputs are normalized (passed through) to the B output. SPONDE also cuts a fine figure as a stereo mixer. In this case, the outputs of other stereo modules are patched in pairs to inputs A and B, and the outputs of SPONDE can then be regarded as left and right.
