The Keith McMillen 12 Step is a MIDI Foot Controller with a keyboard layout, ideal for controlling bass and other instruments with your feet.
The Keith McMillen 12 Step features 13 foot pads laid out across one octave, for musicians to accompany themselves without needing their hands. Each pedal can play up to five notes and features velocity and pressure sensitivity with tilt controls for pitch bend. Like other Keith McMillen MIDI controllers, the 12 Step's keys offer polyphonic aftertouch for even greater control of sounds.
There are many different preset modes, including Legato mode for connected notes and Latch mode to play and sustain notes or chords, while the unit itself has an input for connecting an external expression pedal or Control Voltage input. The Step 12 connects via USB for a quick, plug and play setup, but it can also be used with Keith McMillen Instruments' MIDI Expander to control soft synths.
The main features of the Keith McMillen 12 Step MIDI Foot Controller include:
Really good foot controller - compact, useful software, fun - having read some reviews questioning reliability I am being careful with it. It was the only solution for me not having the space for a larger foot controller.
