Modeling manufacturers have been trying for years to reproduce the sound of popular and classic amplifiers, but they have always come short. In 2012 Christoph Kemper introduced to the world a new and never before seen concept: profiling!
The Kemper Profiling Amp uses unique measuring technology and clever algorithms to capture the DNA and soul of any amplifier. The resulting profile sounds just as realistic and expressive as the original.
The possibilities of the Kemper Amps are practically endless. If you find an awesome sound from another amplifier during a recording session for example, the Kemper can hold on to it so you can quickly and accurately reproduce it again in the future for a live performance and take it with you wherever you go. You can also later edit the sound within the amplifier, be it the Power Sag of the amp or even the Bias value of the tubes. Even the speaker cabinet of the “profiled” combo or stack can manipulated and changed.
Right out of the box, the Kemper Profiling Amplifier has a ton of profiled amps ready to play. Just connect the Profiling Amplifier to your sound system or recording rig, and you're set. And even if you don't have a collection of amps to profile, there are hundreds of profiled amplifiers available online, and the community of Kemper profilers is growing every day.
The high-quality on-board effects allow each profile to be pepped-up. Next to a stomp-box, available are effects before the amplifier section and studio grade effects behind it.
Through constant Firmware updates, the possibilities of the Kemper Profiling Amps are always being expanded, whereby the developers react well to the feedback from users.
For authentic amp sounds and feel the Kemper is the best digital device out there. The effects are god, but still lacking a bit compared to some other devices out there. Rig management is also a bit cumbersome, but I’m sure future updates will address all this.
