With the revised Martin 000-28 Standard Series, the traditional American manufacturer now adds a smaller shape to the famous line-up. The handy guitar is equipped with a solid Sitka spruce top, which in combination with a body made of East Indian rosewood produces a balanced and powerful sound. A stable neck made of selected hardwood with an ebony fretboard provides the player with great playing comfort, especially during elaborate fingerings. The short scale length of 632 mm and the nut width of 44.45 mm make this guitar especially popular among fingerstyle acrobats. A beautiful herringbone binding, a lightly toned top and precise Open Gear Vintage tuners give the instrument a timeless look that Martin guitars have been known for since 1833. The Martin 000-28 Standard comes with a Martin Molded Hardshell case.
Especially with the choice of the top wood one notices how the expertise and experience of the Martin company flows directly into the guitar construction. A fine-grained Sitka spruce top provides a bright and powerful sound experience, especially in the mid and high frequencies, with long-lasting resonance in the overtones. Due to its excellent resonance, the top builds up an incomparable dynamic in combination with a Scalloped X-Bracing, which is especially noticeable during pickings. The new Aging Toner finish emphasizes the even grain of the top wood when viewed from different angles, giving the guitar a graceful appearance like that of an aged guitar. Framed by traditional Bold Herringbone binding, the top is in perfect harmony with the other components of the body. A Tortoise pickguard and Multi Stripe soundhole rosette complete the picture in perfect aesthetics and attention to detail.
To round off the sound picture to perfection, an East Indian rosewood is used on the back and sides, which brings out radiant and clear basses in a discreet manner. This allows the guitar to produce a voluminous and orchestral tone despite its small build, while still conveying warmth. The back of the guitar is decorated with a finely crafted Multi Stripe inlay and is bordered by the typical Style 28 Binding border. With its dark coloring and striking coarse grain, the East Indian rosewood perfectly rounds out the instrument and is in perfect harmony with the light spruce wood.
The neck also offers the player a very distinctive level of comfort. In combination with a rather short scale length of 632 mm and a nut width of 44.45 mm, the solidly constructed neck is made of selected hardwood in a dark mahogany look with a fingerboard made of finest ebony offers a perfect playing feel at all 20 frets. The neck/body transition at the 14th fret gives the player perfect access, even to the higher frets. Decorated with abalone inlays in diamond and rhombus shape, the black ebony fingerboard looks very elegant. The plain headstock features open vintage tuners, which not only allow for easy and precise tuning but also discreetly highlight the manufacturer's long guitar-making tradition. The guitar comes in a lightweight and rigid plastic case with Martin logo on the side.
