The hybrid shell of this snare drum from the Tama S.L.P. (Sound Lab Project) series consist of a poplar-maple combination which produces a warm, soft and very open sound character. The interaction between vintage construction and modern production engineering gives you the best of both worlds and makes the Vintage Poplar Maple snare the ideal companion for all applications.
The 6 mm shell consists of a total of 6 plies in a sandwich construction (2x maple / 2x poplar / 2x maple). For a great look, the outer ply is a very nice "figured maple" veneer. The reinforcement rings at the top and bottom add stability while not altering the sound potential of the woods. The 2,3 mm Mighty Hoops and the double lugs are chrome plated.
