Wild synthvoice with 2 dual oscillator

  • 2 oscillators
  • Multimode filter (LP, BP, HP)
  • Rungler
  • Shift register
  • Pitch inputs with attenuator
  • Input for external signals
  • Rob Hordijk's life's work

The Benjolin V2 by After Later Audio is a successful adaptation of the obscure oscillator and synth voice circuit designed by Rob Hordijk. In detail, the module consists of two analogue oscillators with triangle and square, a multimode filter with parallel tappable filter characteristics lowpass, Bandpass and Highpass as well as the Rungler.

The two analogue oscillators can be modulated internally by the Rungler and by an external control voltage. If you are looking for a (dual) oscillator with precise Tracking you will not find it here. The filter can also be modulated with the Rungler and/or an external control voltage. In addition, there is an audio input, thus unobtrusive filter with gentle resonance can also be used in other patches. In addition to the four waveform outputs of the two oscillators, there is the XOR output, which outputs only 1-bit of the DA converter, and PWM, which is based on a Comparator that includes both oscillators. The filter outputs pick up the PWM output and the external input, the mixing ratio is set with INPUT.

The Rungler itself is an 8/16-stage shift register that gets its data input from oscillator 1 and its clock input from oscillator 2. The output of the shift register is then fed into a simple DA converter which produces a stepped voltage pattern of variable length and depth. This Rungler wave is then fed back into the oscillators and filtered via the attenuators, creating a complex interference system that gives the Benjolin that unique, aleatoric character. Sonically, the Benjolin V2 moves between classic analogue sounds, noise-like sounds, Atari Punk Console, 8-bit rattle and machine hall.
