Digital Delay in a stompbox format with 12 integrated effect programs and Phrase Looper. With the DD-500, Boss presents a digital delay offering a wide range of sounds. There are 12 different effect programs in total, reaching from classic analog Tape delays to modern Reverse and Filter delays.
The knobs allow you to manipulate the effects in real-time, whereby the graphic LCD display provides all of the most important information. Up to 297 presets can be stored in the internal memory of the Boss DD-500 and then accessed via footswitch. Additionally you have the possibility of controlling effect parameters via an optional expression pedal. The MIDI sockets allow the Boss DD-500 to be effortless integrated into preexisting setups.
Next to its Delay effects, the Boss DD-500 features an integrated Phrase Looper, which records Loops up to 120 seconds longer (48 kHz Mono, 60 seconds @ 98 kHz Mono/48 kHz Stereo).
With the USB connection the Boss DD-500 can be connected to a computer to archive patches or even control it via DAW software.
Having owned every delay pedal under the sun I can safely say nothing beats the DD500. It can be as simple or as complex as you wish. Much prefer the sounds from this to the Strymon Timeline (there’s a noticeable Strymon sound you hear everywhere now). I use thus on guitar and keys and it’s just divine. The new update and the editor take this to the next level. The only con is I wish it was a tiny bit smaller but that’s a small price to pay. Just get one!
This is a great sounding delay with a hi-fi, clean sound. The interface is a bit complex, because of the depth involved. But it’s also easy to use and lets you dial in almost any delay you want.
The audio quality is extremely high and it’s built very well. It’s a clean sound, but you can add dirt by using the FX loop setting. This is a great pedal.
