Distortion effect pedal with active EQ and semi-parametric mids
The Boss MT-2 Metal Zone has been part of the legendary Japanese effects manufacturer's fixed program since 1991 and since then has helped to turn even the weakest guitar amplifier into a fire-breathing metal monster. The analogue dual-stage gain circuit promises massive distortion sounds with long sustain, while the active 3-band EQ allows precise adjustment of the tone.
Dual-Stage Gain Circuit
The dual-stage gain circuit of the Boss Metal Zone relies on two serially arranged distortion circuits with elaborate filtering that promise distinctive distortion. Depending on the position of the gain control, the MT-2 from Boss delivers a dense overdrive or an aggressive high-gain distortion with endless sustain.
Active Equalizer
To adjust the distortion sound perfectly to your own preferences, the MT-2 Metal Zone has a sophisticated EQ. The active 3-band equaliser allows up to 15 dB boost or cut in bass, midrange and treble, so that every tone can be realised, from a brutal mid-scoop for massive riffs to a juicy boost for maximum assertiveness. The semi-parametric design of the mid control also allows precise adjustment of the operating frequency between 200 Hz and 5 kHz.
A good pedal overall with a fat distortion but it is a little noisy as well... seems like a swarm of bees live in it if you twaek it the wrong way. If you tweak it to your liking youll get some pretty good distortions out of it, but beware, if you fiddle too much with the EQ, youll end up screwing up your tone...
