The construction of the American Special Telecaster follows the proven Fender recipe since 1952. Accordingly, solid alder is used for the body, while the screwed neck is made of maple and a rosewood fingerboard is fitted with 22 frets in modern jumbo format, which together with the flat 9.5 inch radius of the fingerboard enable unimpeded bends.
