I bought one of these effects pedals in 2019, and quickly came to appreciate its diverse capabilities. Three effects in one unit, the sounds from which are reverb, delay, delay with multiple adjustment for each, attack, shimmer, decay and so on, and a range of presets plus a looper. The display screen lets you know where you are rather than having to remember a combo of button presses. There are plenty of YouTube reviews of this unit, and actually it can do far more than I've had need of. Negatively, some of the reverb settings can sound a bit harsh with the shimmer effect being a bit 'on or off'. My original unit failed after just over 2 years - outside manufacturers warranty and not guaranteed by the vendor. Why buy another? I really missed having it, I've done a fair bit of recording with it and have utilised it as part of my sound. I couldn't really find anything that matched it. When I saw the price Music Store (dv247) are selling it for (£30 less than most vendors) plus offering an extended warranty, it was an obvious choice. If you're looking for effects with some unusual (or completely bonkers) delay effects - it was developed with Devin Townsend after all - at a very good price, you could do a lot worse.
I had been thinking about buying one of these units for quite a while, but when I saw the price at DV247, I had to have one, there and then. The Ocean Machine has some odd/unique delays, plus it has a reverse reverb and the ability to add shimmer to any of the reverbs types in varying amounts is great.
I generally use my Line 6 Helix and Native for most effects, but this little box of tricks has a few more specialised FX that the Helix does not have at this time. I can stick it in the FX loop of the Helix and it gives me the ability to add 3 extra effects from the one stereo send/return block.
As noted - a neat little box of ambient tricks for a bargain price.
