The Music Man StingRay 5 Special RW Maroon Mist electric bass impresses thanks to the optimized body design and the revised electronics with a particularly comfortable handling and variable sounds that always show the typical StingRay character. Construction-wise, the five-string features a body made of selected hardwood and a five-piece bolted neck made of roasted maple, while the sculpted neck joint and the slim "C" profile create optimal playing conditions. The powerful Music Man standard neodymium humbucker and the 18 volt powered 3-band tone control furthermore provide a detailed and variable sound representation, whereby even the low B-string is perfectly reproduced. Last but not least, the Music ManStingRay 5 Special RW Maroon Mist features lightweight bass tuners specially developed for this model Music ManCustom and a Music ManVintage steel top-load bridge.

Classic wood selection with high playing comfort
With the StingRay 5 Special RW Maroon Mist, Music Man relies on a classic wood selection that guarantees a crisp and balanced output from the low B to the high G string. Accordingly, the five-string features a body made of carefully selected hardwood and an extremely stable neck made of roasted maple, whose rosewood fingerboard carries 22 stainless steel frets in the "High Profile, Wide" format. With the optimized lines of the body, the Bass furthermore sits comfortably on the body, while the "C" neck profile with wax-oil finish makes every groove come out of the fingers easily.
A powerful Music Man neodymium humbucker, whose coils offer three different switching options, and an active 3-band tone control promise versatile bass sounds.
Music Man neodymium humbucker and 3-band tone control
The electrical tone conversion of the Music Man StingRay 5 Special RW is handled by a Music Man standard neodymium humbucker specially developed for this model, whose powerful magnets guarantee a powerful and defined output of all strings. The 3-way blade switch also allows the coils of the humbucker to be called up in three different combinations. The parallel connection delivers the typical StingRay sound with tight bass foundation and brilliant highs, while the serial mode provides an extremely powerful sound with high assertiveness. Also available is a filtered series circuit that delivers a lean tone with single-coil character. The active 3-band tone control, which has an enormous headroom thanks to 18-volt supply, can be adjusted furthermore precisely the sound.
Five lightweight Music Man Custom machine heads guarantee stable and accurate tuning of the Music Man StingRay 5 Special RW Maroon Mist.
Lightweight hardware equipment
Last but not least the Music ManStingRay 5 Special RW Maroon Mist convinces with a hardware equipment that is perfectly adapted to the E-Bass. The headstock is equipped with Music Man Custom lightweight machine heads in the typical "4+1" arrangement, which guarantee a precise Tuning and counteract head heaviness by using lightweight materials. The body is also equipped with the Music Man Vintage top-load bridge made of steel, whose mass supports the sound development and Sustain of the five-stringer.

It is high quality instrument, everything I have expected from Music man StingRay. A new thing for me, it is very light weight for a 5 string StingRay.
