PRS David Grissom Signature Electric Guitar
The PRS DGT Birds Cobalt Blue electric guitar is the product of a long-standing collaboration between Paul Reed Smith and busy session guitarist David Grissom, whose credits include stints as a sideman with the Dixie Chicks and Allman Brothers Band. Blessed with the genes of the coveted PRS McCarty, the PRS DGT features a mahogany body with curly maple top and a gluedmahogany neck in the bold but comfortable "DGT" profile. Two PRS DGT humbuckers specially tuned to David Grissom's tonal preferences deliver top-class vintage sounds at the guitar amplifier, whose métier is lively clean and overdrive sounds between country, Blues and rock. Thanks to the coil split option, the PRS DGT guitar also delivers premium coil sounds with high transparency and lively dynamics. Last but not least, a PRS Gen III tremolo and PRS Phase III locking tuners complete the PRS DGT Birds Cobalt Blue.
The PRS DGT Birds convinces with first-class playing characteristics and flexible vintage sounds.
The glued neck texture and body cutaways make it easy to reach the higher frets.
PRS Construction and Features
The proven composition of the solid mahoganybody andneck delivers absolute stability, with the high-quality 10-top maple top with memorable flame underlining the tonal transparency as well as the cobalt Blue Finish of the PRS DGT Birds. Furthermore, the neck texture and the wide DGT neck profile create ideal playing conditions for the 22-flush rosewood fretboard, which with a 10-inch radius creates a comfortable foundation for riffs and licks. Of course, a reliable choice was made for the hardware equipment of the DGT Birds and accordingly, a PRS Gen III tremolo and Phase III locking tuners provide further tonal stability and facilitate string changes.
The humbuckers developed by PRS and David Grissom are precisely tailored to the wishes of the guitarist.
DGT Humbucker
The sound of the DGT Birds Cobalt Blue is transformed by two PRS DGT humbuckers with David Grissom voicing, from which a wide range of sounds can be elicited via a classic 3-way circuit, as well as two volume and one tone control with push/pull Coil-Split function. The tonal qualities of the two dual coils are expressed in a combination of rhythm and solo sound with Texas voicing, which is particularly convincing in the areas between blues, rock and country with elegant warmth.
