The Roland RD-800 Stage Piano is a digital stage piano that offers a new interface, new sounds and a host of real time controls that you would normally expect to see on synths or MIDI controllers.
This stunning full sized PHA-4 concert keyboard is armed with 88 ebony/ivory feel keys with Escapement, a SuperNATURAL sound generator and 128 voice polyphony, making it one of the best pianos Roland have ever created, both from a sound and performance perspective. The RD-800 also has a colour LCD for navigation around the various sounds and presets and allows for storage of 200 rhythm patterns.
One of the new features on the RD-800 is the series of controls located on the front panel that allow for control over reverb, modulation effect, delay, EQ, tremolo and amp saturation, all applicable in real time. In addition to these, there is also a tone colour control which evolves the sound of the piano as you play, so you can change the ‘A.Piano’ setting from an upright mono sounding piano through to a huge stereo grand piano, or change the ‘E.Piano’ setting from a vintage Silver-Top type piano through to a Rhodes MKI or MKII piano. This amazing feature makes the RD-800 incredibly versatile, especially for live performance.
The Roland RD-800 has master outputs on stereo balanced XLR and stereo ¼” unbalanced TS jack, a headphone output on a ¼” balanced TRS jack, an input on 1/8” balanced TRS mini-jack, MIDI In/Out/Thru on 5-pin DIN, and four pedal inputs on ¼” balanced TRS jacks, and a USB port.
