The SSL Pure Drive Quad is a revolutionary microphone preamp that offers four independent microphone preamps. Each preamp can be individuallyswitchedbetween three different DRIVE modes (Clean, ClassicDrive and Asymmetrical Drive), offering a wide range of tonal possibilities. The device also has four microphone preamp input impedance options, which can be used to adjust the impedance to the connected microphone at the touch of a button. In addition, each preamp has independent +48V phantom power, polarity inversion and an adjustable high-pass filter.
The Pure Drive Quad is based on the renowned SuperAnalogue PureDrive™ microphone preamp technology, which was originally used in the ORIGIN console from Solid State Logic. This innovative technology makes it possible to change the character of the Preamps from a clear and detailed output of the signal to a warm, harmonic and driven sound. The device not only offers excellent analog circuitry but also a modern digital connection. It has an integrated USB interface that enables high-quality digital conversion at up to 192 kHz and 24 bit. It also offers a word clock input and output, an AES/EBU output, four line/mic inputs and outputs and an ADAT outputto connect it to other digital devices. The SSL Pure Drive Quad is a versatile and powerful microphone preamplifier suitable for both tracking and mixing. It offers the ability to capture and shape the sound of the source with SSL quality, from transparent and clear to warm and saturated.
Drive functions of the preamps:
Clean: linear, extremely low-noise and low-distortion preamp that perfectly amplifies the sound source with clarity and detail.
Classic Drive: introduces harmonic distortion to enrich the input signal, using predominantly odd harmonics - the same drive sound found in the ORIGIN console. The harmonic distortion is level and gain-dependent.
Asymmetric Drive: an alternative to the Classic Drive mode, in which the even harmonics become dominant over the odd harmonics. This results in a more pronounced thickness and softness of the transients. The harmonic distortion is level and gain-dependent. Suitable for vocals, Bass and synthesizers.
