The compact Tama LHK38CS S.L.P. Shell Set Hickory Satin Vintage Hickory is a three-piece Tama shell set (18", 12", 14") incl. Tom Holder. The hickory used for the shells is 100% North American and has similar sound characteristics as maple, but the harder texture makes the sound a bit clearer and more open. High quality 2.3 mm steel hoops, the Direct Flexi Mount and the Evans G1 heads additionally support the excellent handling and the resonant sound of the Tama LHK38CS S.L.P. Shell Set Hickory. The brown painted bass drum hoop is a visual highlight thanks to the foil inlay in Vintage Marine Pearl and gives the Tama LHK38CS S.L.P. Shell Set Hickory Satin Vintage Hickory a unique retro touch.
Tom and Floor Tom consist of six layers with 5 mm thickness, the bass drum of eight layers with 7 mm thickness. The increased density of hickory gives the sound of the drum shells more clarity and increased resonance without losing warmth. Single layer Evans G1 coated heads on both toms support the basic sound of the drum shells without distorting it. Triple-flanged 2.3 mm Steel Mighty Hoops offer lively dynamics and a well-balanced frequency spectrum. The overall appearance of the drum shells is rounded off by the brown-lacquered wooden hoop on the bass drum, which has a foil inlay in vintage Marine Pearl.
For the S.L.P. drum sets the Tama Direct Flexi-Mount was developed, which supports the natural sound of the wood and lets the drum shell vibrate freely. The Tama Direct Flexi-Mount consists of a two-part construction, which uses a metal plate on the drum and a mounting for the L-Rod of the tom stand. This design of the Direct Flexi-Mount controls the vibration of the shell and allows more room for the sound to unfold due to the insulation compared to directly mounted drums. Smooth transitions, a clear sound and emphasis on the wooden sound is characteristic for this mechanism.
