The Tone King Ironman II was designed specifically to tame powerful tube amps. The compact attenuator is designed for amplifiers up to 100 watts into 4, 8 or 16 ohms and reduces the output volume of the amp without compromising the sound quality. To achieve this, the Ironman II mirrors the impedance curve typical of guitar speakers to faithfully reproduce sound and attack. The overall volume is easily reduced in six switchable steps , while the Range switch with HI and LO modes provides two different levels of power reduction for each position of the Attenuation Level control . The SOLO switch gives a switchable boost to the signal for leads. Furthermore the Ironman II features a Presence Switch with three steps of adjustable treble and compression , while the rear line out and included footswitch allow for seamless integration on stage and in the studio.
Excellent product. I’m using to tame Marshall JVM in our bungalow. Was delivered on time as stated by dv247 (and considerably cheaper than UK dealers) - It is EXACTLY the same as the one I purchased 2 years ago and comes suitable for uk power, this is the 2nd Ironman II, As l’ve upgraded to a twin amp set up. Brilliant bit of kit
I have had the attenuator for almost a month ,payed full price and I have so far only used it at home in an appartment . The many levels of attenuation makes it easy to set the amp and the volume to taste. I find it musical and useful even at high levels of attenuation.
Speakers does not sound the same at lower volumes and some might suit better than others while playing really low volumes at home.
Having said that, I dont think it gets much better than this for analogue attenuation. Happy I got the big one so I can mix and match amp and speaker impedances .
Really useful!
