Microgranny Monolith - The Final Form of the Microgranny
As MicroGranny MonolithBastl Instruments sends its popular Mono Sampler into the race again. Visually, the desktop device presents itself in elegant black and the prints are now much more readable. In addition, the housing is made of sturdy PCB material and comes across more valuable. The pre-installed sample set comes in part from the artist Bogdan Raczynski who has already released on Rephlex Records. Musically, a new direction is taken with these samples.
Technical
The MicroGranny is six-voice polyphonic, so it plays six samples simultaneously. One Preset consists of six samples including all settings, a total of 60 presets can be stored. Each sample can be edited by attack/releaseenvelope, crush, sample rate and grain size; definable start and end points including loop value are also adjustable. Hifi sounds are not part of the MG Monolith's repertoire, because the samples are recorded and played as WAV files in mono and have a resolution of 22050 Hz with 8 or 16 bits. Add this to the simple but effective editing options and it's clear that this sampler is a creative playground for lo-fi fans. The device is able to record new sounds itself with the built-in microphone or the audio input, a sample transfer via microSD card is also implemented. The MIDI input can be used to trigger the six samples including Velocity, CC commands and Clock for the loop points are also processed.
