The Engl E645/2 Powerball II is an indisputable milestone among the high gain amp tops of metal and has been convincing with tight sounds and fat rhythms since its introduction. The comprehensive Head amplifier with its 4 channels covers clear cleans, rich crunch and high gain lead sound and delivers 100 watts of studio- and stage-ready power at 4, 8 or 16 ohms.
The 100-watt Powerball II is based on four channels with independent gain controls, of which channels 3 and 4 are declared as lead channels and offer immense gain reserves. Especially the lead channels of the Powerball II convince by an unusual clarity and a strong, but tidy low-end range. In addition to the easy-to-grip equalizer for channels 1/2 and 3/4, a wide range of options for fine adjustment of the voicing are also available using the mid boost function for an alternatively adjustable center frequency as well as Bright and Bottom switches for Clean/Crunch.
A Serial Amp Control Port (S.A.C.) for connecting an Engl Z-9 Footswitch is available on the rear for controlling the Powerball II. The in-house foot switch, specially designed for Engl Heads, makes it easy to select all 4 channels. Other functions such as controlling the middle-boost or the effect loop can also be programmed on the Z-9.
Another practical feature of the Powerball II Head is the internal noise gate for the lead channels of the head. This effectively kills unwanted hum and background noise on high gain settings, as the gate effect only takes effect after preamplification.
