Authentic Fifties manufacturing methods
In order to get as close as possible to the sound and feel of a vintage original, the Luthiers of the Gibson Custom Shop used traditional Fifties manufacturing methods to build the 1954 Les Paul. matching one-piece mahogany body wears a maple top, while the mahogany neck is set into the body with a long neck foot. Hide-glue with glass hard consistency and a thin nitrocellulose finish guarantee here a lively sound development of the guitar. The beefier"Chunky-C" neck profile also feels rich but comfortable in the hand and promises authentic playing characteristics on the 22-fret rosewood fingerboard.
Gibson Custom P-90 single coils with soapbar caps and hand-wired electrics guarantee authentic vintage sounds for blues and rock.
Custombucker pickups and hand-wired electrics.
The electrical sound transformation of the '54 Les Paul is naturally handled by two GibsonCustom Soapbar P-90 pickups with classic cream-coloured plastic caps. Wound to historic specifications in the Custom store, the single-coil pickups elicit surprisingly fat vintage tones from the guitar amp with a powerful midrange and silky brilliance in the highs that respond agilely to playing style, providing the ideal foundation for the traditional clean and overdrive tones of Blues and rock. A hand-wired electrics with a high-quality Switchcraft Toggle for pickup selection and separate volume and tone pots from CTS for each pickup also allows precise adjustment of the sound, with paper-in -Oil caps promising smooth roll-offs of the treble.
Kluson tuners with a historically correct look keep the 1954 Les Paul Goldtop securely in the correct tuning.
Historically accurate hardware appointments
As an authentic reissue of the '54 Les Paul, the GibsonCustom 1954 Les Paul Goldtop Heavy AgedDouble Gold naturally comes with the classic Gibson wraparound bridge, which contributes significantly to the characterful and lively sound of the electric guitar and has two set screws for adjusting the intonation. On the headstock, Kluson tuners with single row embossing on the body (Single Line) and wings with one ring (Single Ring) also ensure not only the historically correct look but also accurate and robust tuning of the electric guitar.
